PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers wrap up the road portion of its 2017-18 schedule at Dartmouth (Feb. 23) and Harvard (Feb. 24) this weekend.
Â
The Dartmouth contest will be streamed on the Ivy League Network and ESPN3. The Harvard meeting will also be streamed on the Ivy League Network, but also can viewed on television (NESN+). Both games will get underway at 7 p.m.
Â
Before we preview the Dartmouth and Harvard weekend, let's take one more look at the Cornell/Columbia weekend …
Â
Princeton's Defense – The Tigers were lights out on the defensive side against Cornell and Columbia. The Big Red made just 15 baskets and did not make a three-pointer against Princeton including a two-point first quarter. It was the first time that head coach Courtney Banghart's squad has held an opponent without a three-pointer since Mar. 7, 2014 against Cornell. The Tigers held Columbia's Camille Zimmerman, the top scorer in the Ivy League, to 3-of-18 shooting (16.7 percent).
Â
Abby Meyers – The freshman continued her impressive play since the start of Ivy season as she dropped in 12 points along with seven rebounds, two assists against Columbia last Saturday. She has double figures in four of her last six games.
Â
Princeton's Bench – The Tigers' bench had another stirring weekend, combining for 62 points against Cornell and Columbia. The group also grabbed 40 rebounds and was 14-of-19 from the free throw line.
Â
Cornell's Offense – The Big Red's struggles on offense were shown quickly as they scored just two points in the first quarter. Cornell missed its first eight shots as Princeton stole five passes, blocked three steals and created seven turnovers in that frame.
Â
Columbia's Rebounding – After posting a +23-rebounding margin against Columbia in January, Princeton had a +12 margin on Saturday against the Lions. Five Tigers had at least four rebounds against Columbia while the Lions had just 27 rebounds total in the game.
Â
And now on to Dartmouth / Harvard
Â
Helping Hands -Â Princeton sits at No. 56 in the country in assists per game (15.7). The Tigers have registered at least 10 assists in every game this season except for one. Leslie Robinson is third in the Ivy League in assists per game (4.2) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4). The senior has posted at least four assists in her last six games including 10 against Penn on Feb. 13. She was the first player to snag at least 10 helpers in game since Blake Dietrick in December of 2014.
Â
Princeton's Offensive Efficiency – During its six-game winning streak, Princeton is shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and 36.5 percent from beyond the arc. During that stretch, the Tigers have outscored opponents by 24.5 points per game. Seven players that have played at least 10 minutes are shooting over 40 percent in the last six games.
Â
Kate Letkewicz - The senior registered 57 points last weekend as Dartmouth stopped Yale and Brown, the program's first road weekend since 2015-16. For that, she was selected as the Ivy Co-Player of the Week. Princeton held the senior to 12 points on 12 shots in the Tigers' victory in February.
Â
Dartmouth Three-Point Shooting - Dartmouth is first in the Ivy League in three-point field goal percentage (30.6) and 30th in the country. The Big Green are also 44th nationally in three-pointers per game (8.0). The Big Green made just two treys in the second half of Princeton's 82-63 victory earlier this month.
Â
Harvard's Three-Point Shooting – The Crimson are also among the best in the country in three-point shooting (34.2, 79th) while their 8.4 treys per game are 33rd in the NCAA. Harvard has made at least nine three-pointers in eight of its last nine games. The only game that the Crimson didn't reach that mark … Feb. 9 vs. Princeton.
