Princeton Secures Berth In Ivy League Tournament, Sinks Dartmouth, 79-67

HANOVER, N.H. – Four player scored in double figures as the Princeton Tigers (20-4, 10-1 Ivy) sank the Dartmouth Big Green (14-10, 6-5 Ivy), 79-67, at Leede Arena on Friday evening.

Leslie Robinson was 7-of-10 from the floor, scoring 15 points, while dishing out nine assists and grabbing eight rebounds. Sydney Jordan was near perfect, going 7-of-8, snagging a career-high 14 points. Abby Meyers and Tia Weledji dropped in 27 points off the bench in the victory.

With the win, Princeton clinched a berth in the Ivy League Tournament and reached the 20-win mark for the eighth time in head coach Courtney Banghart's 11 years.

Dartmouth was shut down to open the game as it made one of its first eight shots as the Tigers ran out with nine of the first 11 points. The Big Green countered, tying the game at 9-all with 1:06 to go. Meyers answered with an impressive post move to give the Tigers an 11-9 lead after the first quarter.

In front by one, 21-20, Banghart's unit rolled off 14 straight points, highlighted by seven from Weledji. After a timeout, Dartmouth climbed within nine, but Princeton finished the final 2:06 with a 6-2 run to take 40-27 advantage into halftime. The Tigers knocked down seven treys in the first 20 minutes.

The Tigers' lead ballooned to 19, 46-27, as they made the first three baskets of the second half. Dartmouth cut its deficit to 14, but the Tigers took a 62-45 lead into the final stanza. Princeton missed just three shots in 13 attempts in the third quarter.

Dartmouth made a big push to begin the fourth frame, using a 14-4 run to get within seven, 66-59, as the clock ticked under five minutes. The Tigers scored on their next two possessions to keep the Big Green at bay. Dartmouth never got closer than nine the rest of the way as Princeton made five free throws in the last 48 seconds to seal the win.

Isalys Quinones had a game-high 22 points for Dartmouth while Cy Lippold contributed 17 in the loss. Princeton' 58.2 percent shooting is a season-best. The Tigers' bench posted 37 points, marking the eighth time in 10 games with at least 30 points.

Princeton's road trip continues at Harvard Saturday (7 p.m.) The Crimson (15-9, 7-4 Ivy) Â defeated Penn, 55-52 tonight. With a win, the Tigers can clinch the No. 1 seed in the Ivy League Tournament. Harvard is 11-0 at home. The game will be streamed on the Ivy League Network and can be seen on NESN+.
