Princeton Has Five Honored On ACWPC Scholar Athlete Team

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers had five players named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Scholar Athlete Team.
Alex Essig (Outstanding), Ryan Hammarskjold (Superior), Ryan Melosini (Excellent), Michael Swart (Excellent) and Davis Wachtell (Excellent) were named to the Scholar Athlete Team.
A total of 354 (92 Outstanding, 145 Superior, 117 Excellent) student-athletes were named to the 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Scholar-Athlete Team. Nominations were made by head coaches with athletes recognized at 3 levels (Outstanding - 4.0-3.71; Superior - 3.70-3.41; Excellent - 3.40-3.20). Teams recording above a 3.0 GPA were also recognized.
Princeton went 22-6 this season and reached the NWPC Championship game. The Tigers defeated four California teams and eight ranked opponents during the 2017 season, finishing No. 14 in the final Varsity Poll.
