Princeton Sets Sights On No. 16 Maryland Following Today's Practice

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Princeton Tigers met the media today and had their practice at the Reynolds Coliseum. The Tigers take on the No. 16 Maryland Terrapins on Friday at 12:30 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN2 and the WatchESPN app with ESPN studio coverage beginning at noon. With less than 24 hours before tip-off. Let's check out several things to watch out for on Friday ...

Maryland's Three-Point Defense – If there's one major flaw with the No. 16 ranked team in the country, it's defending the three-point line. The Terrapins rank 287th in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense (33.8). Princeton ranks in the top 100 in three-point field goal percentage (33.7, 91st) and treys per game (6.8, 94th). Carlie Littlefield leads the Tigers in shooting from deep (37.0) while Gabrielle Rush is at 36.5 percent.

Maryland's Three-Point Shooting – The Terrapins are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country (10th, 38.8). Maryland's Kristen Confroy (44.5 percent) is one of the best shooters in Division I as she sits 12th. Princeton was the best in the Ivy League at defending beyond the arc (28.9 percent). The Tigers have allowed less than six three-pointers per game in 19 of their 29 games this season.

Maryland's Offense – The Terrapins have one of the best offenses in the country and rank among the nation's best in many categories. Maryland averages 80.3 points (17th) on 45.8 percent shooting (20th), along with 17.1 assists per game (18th). The Big Ten foe scored at least 70 points in 24 of its 32 games this season. Kaila Charles is the team's leading scorer at 18.3 points per game. Princeton is 10th in the NCAA in scoring defense (54.3) and has not given up more than 60 points in the last four games.

Rebounding – This contest features two quality rebounding squads in Maryland and Princeton. The Terrapins come into the game at No. 22 in Division I in rebounds per game (42.4) while the Tigers are No. 91 (39.6). Head coach Courtney Banghart's squad won the rebounding battle in 23 games this season including a current consecutive streak of 15. Bella Alarie is the best rebounder between the two teams (9.6). She had 34 rebounds in the Ivy League Tournament.
