Princeton Aims to Continue Perfect Start at Yale, Brown This Weekend
April 11, 2018 | Women's Tennis
Now at 3-0 in the Ivy League, the 44th-ranked Princeton women's tennis team will look to keep its perfect start going Saturday and Sunday at Yale and Brown, both 1 p.m. starts.
Updates will be available on Twitter at @PrincetonTennis. Saturday's match will be available on the Ivy League Network.
Only Princeton and Harvard, also 3-0, remain unbeaten in Ivy League play, and the Tigers and Crimson are scheduled to meet next Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lenz Tennis Center (or Jadwin Gym, in inclement weather). But before that, the Tigers have to make the New Haven-Providence trip. Princeton swept both teams in Princeton last year, but the Tigers split the last time they took the trip, losing at Brown before winning at Yale in 2016. That was the only time in the past four seasons that Princeton hasn't swept the Yale-Brown weekend.
Princeton also defeated Brown this year, 4-2 in the ECAC Championship semifinals in Jadwin. The Tigers went on to win that tournament, defeating Dartmouth in the final.
Yale is 6-14 and 0-3 in the Ivy, opening with defeats to Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard. Brown is 9-10 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy, splitting last weekend with a loss to Harvard and a win over Dartmouth.
Katrine Steffensen, 12-2 overall at first singles, Gaby Pollner, 12-3 overall at fifth, and Nathalie Rodilosso, 5-1 overall at sixth, are all 3-0 in singles in Ivy play. Sara Goodwin and Rodilosso, 12-3 overall at third as a doubles pair on the dual-match season, are 3-0 in Ivy matches.
