Tigers Set for Ivy League Championship Tournaments This Weekend
April 18, 2018 | Men's Golf, Women's Golf
It's Ivy League Championships time for the Princeton men's and women's golf teams Friday through Sunday at Stonewall in Elverson, Pa., for the men and Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson, N.J. for the women.
The Tiger women are defending champs, defeating runner-up Harvard by a near-record 31 strokes at the Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The title was Princeton's fifth all-time and first since 2005. Three of Princeton's scoring four from that tournament, all of whom finished in the top seven, are back this year, including defending medalist Amber Wang, runner-up Alison Chang and seventh-place finisher Maya Walton, who went on to earn an individual bid to the NCAA Championships.
The Tiger men have won 29 Ivy League titles, last in 2013. Finishing third a year ago, Princeton returns four of its five from that tournament, with Michael Davis, second on the team, tying for sixth overall last year. Evan Quinn, who tied for 14th overall and was third on the team last year as a rookie, has led Princeton in every tournament both last fall and this spring.
The women's tournament at Metedeconk will feature one round each day Friday through Sunday with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day on the par-72, 6,050-yard course. Live results via Golfstat will be available here.
The men's tournament at Stonewall will also feature one round each day, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday on the par-70, 6,866-yard course. Live results via Golfstat will be available here.
The winning team for each tournament will gain an automatic bid to the NCAA regionals. Selection shows are set for Wednesday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. for the women and Wednesday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. for the men, both on the Golf Channel.
