Updated: Tigers to Host Dartmouth Friday, Saturday
April 04, 2018 | Softball
The information below has been updated with changes to the weekend schedule.
The Ivy League season will continue Friday for two at 2 p.m. and Saturday for one at 12:30 p.m. for the Princeton softball team as Dartmouth visits for the third of seven league weekends.
The games will be streamed on the Ivy League Network (Friday | Saturday) with live stats available here. Youth Day has been postponed to April 28 against Penn, and admission is always free to Princeton softball regular-season home games.
The Ivy race is close, with some teams two weekends in and others three. Every team has at least two losses and at least two wins, with Harvard (6-3) and Dartmouth (4-2), this weekend's opponent, each with a league-leading .667 winning percentage. Though Princeton is tied with Brown at 2-4 in the league, only 2 1/2 games separate the two ends of the standings.Â
Dartmouth, which enters the week leading the Ivy with a 3.41 ERA and Breanna Ethridge (2-5, 2.86) turning in a league-leading 58 strikeouts, enters having won four of its last five after dropping the Ivy opener against Penn and going on to win two of three against both the Quakers and Columbia. Micah Schroder leads Dartmouth with 24 hits, 14 RBIs and a .329 average. Along with Ethridge at 63 2/3 innings, Shelby Wilkison (3-6, 3.32) has thrown 50 2/3 of the team's 148 frames with Heather Turner (5-2, 4.57) accounting for the other 33 2/3. All three have thrown in the Big Green's Ivy games.
Princeton enters the series with Megan Donahey having notched a team-high 23 hits as one of eight Tigers with at least 10 hits. Keeley Walsh and Mackenzie Meyer each have a pair of home runs, with three of those combined four coming over the last two weekends. Allie Reynolds (2-10, 5.95) and Ashley LaGuardia (2-7, 8.31) have made all of the Tigers' Ivy League starts.
Dartmouth has been a tough opponent for the Tigers, with the Big Green sweeping each of the last four doubleheaders between the teams. Princeton last took a game from the Big Green in 2013 and last swept a twinbill from Dartmouth in 2012.
Following the weekend, Princeton will have its penultimate non-league game of the regular season, hosting Monmouth Wednesday for a single game at 4 p.m. before returning to Ivy League play next weekend at Yale.
