Season Recap: Princeton's Groundwork Set For Big 2019

PRINCETON, N.J. – As the Major League Baseball Draft came to a close and players begin summer ball, let's take one last look at the 2018 season for the Princeton Tigers.
Signature Wins:
Mar. 28 - Princeton earned its first victory over Rutgers since 2011 with a 6-5 decision at Bainton Field. Conor Nolan hit his second career home run while Joseph Flynn and David Harding added two hits. Princeton finished with 10 walks and nine hits in the victory. Senior Kevin Thomsen earned his first career win and Eli Kimbell nabbed his second save of the season.
Apr. 1 - Chris Davis' RBI single in the seventh inning proved to be the game-winner as Princeton picked up a series victory over Cornell with a 7-6 win at the Clarke Field. Davis and Jesper Horsted had two hits each. Max West hit his second career home run, posting two RBI and two runs. James Proctor and Kimbell combined for 11 strikeouts. Kimbell threw the final five innings, allowing just two hits, earning the victory.
Apr. 22 – Princeton rallied with five runs in the seventh inning to take down Columbia, 7-6, at Satow Stadium. The win gave the Tigers a series victory over the Lions for the first time since 2011. Five different Tigers had multi-hit games in the contest, highlighted by West and Harding's three hits each. Davis scored three times at the top of the order.

Ivy League Player of the Week: Joseph Flynn (Mar. 12)

Notes: Princeton had four players that hit over .250 … Seven players registered over 10 runs scored … Flynn led the squad with 25 RBI while Nolan's 22 tallies were right behind him … Horsted led the team in hitting (.324), hits (44), total bases (53) and on-base percentage (.408) ... Princeton's pitching staff was third in the conference in hits allowed per nine innings (10.05) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.5) … Gross was 14th in the country in strikeout/walk ratio (7.43) and 15th walks per nine innings (1.20).
