Princeton's Cancun Challenge Schedule Set
July 06, 2018 | Women's Basketball
CANCUN, Mexico – The Princeton Tigers' schedule for the 2018 Cancun Challenge has been set.
Â
The 14th edition of the women's event welcomes a rich pool of talent -- skilled and successful teams from the most accomplished conferences, along with an intriguing mix of mid-major teams looking to flex their muscle. The Women's Cancun Challenge will be held at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula.
Â
Princeton will take on DePaul on Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) beginning at 11 a.m. The Tigers are 0-2 all-time against the Blue Demons, having last faced off in 2012. DePaul has made the NCAA Tournament in every season since 2002-03.
Â
Head coach Courtney Banghart's unit battles Syracuse the next day (Nov. 23) at 1:30 p.m. Those two squads have faced off twice with the Orange earning both decisions. The ACC foe has reached the Big Dance in each of the last six years.
Â
Kansas State and Princeton wrap up the Challenge on Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. The Wildcats are 3-0 in program history against the Tigers including a 60-42 victory in 2016. Kansas State has also made the NCAA Tournament in two of the past three seasons.
Â
Princeton last appeared at the Cancun Challenge in 2014, winning against Wake Forest, Montana and Charlotte. The Tigers would go on to finish the regular season at 30-0 and win the program's first ever NCAA Tournament contest.
Â
