Tigers, Walton Sweep Titles at Towson Invitational
September 11, 2018 | Women's Golf
Junior Maya Walton has two All-Ivy League honors, has helped Princeton to two Ivy League titles, and is one of three golfers in program history to qualify individually for the NCAA finals.
Now, Walton has another accolade to add to her Princeton résumé: tournament medalist.
Walton carded a 68, the lowest round in the Towson Invitational by three strokes, to win the event by three shots over teammate Tiana Lau as Princeton won the Towson title by 17 shots over host Towson Tuesday at Eagle's Nest Country Club in Phoenix, Md. Lau entered Tuesday's final round as the tournament leader after shooting a first-round 74 Monday, and even though Lau bettered that by three shots to card 71 Tuesday, Walton lopped seven shots off her Monday round to finish at 1-under for the event.

The title is Princeton's first since the Ivy League Championship last spring and first stroke-play title outside of the Ivy tournament since the 2017 Harvard Invitational. It's the 10th tournament title in the four-plus years under coach Erika DeSanty.Â
Princeton will continue the fall season with the home Princeton Invitational Sept. 29-30. Complete results are available here.
