Five for Five - No. 5 Princeton Blanks No. 4 Cornell 5-0
January 11, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sophomore Rachel McQuigge stopped all 26 shots she faced as the No. 5 Princeton dominated No. 4 Cornell in a 5-0 victory at Lynah Rink on Friday afternoon. Freshman Sarah Fillier and Maggie Connors both had four-point games with two goals and two assists apiece.
With the win Princeton improves to 11-0-2 in the ECAC and extends its unbeaten streak to 17.
"I'm really proud of the way our team played today against a tough Cornell team," Princeton head coach Cara Morey said. "All 21 of our players contributed to that win, it was a total team effort! Cornell is a very tough team to play against; they have a lot of speed and skill; so to play a game like this tonight was an awesome accomplishment."
Connors got things started with a heads up play in the neutral, picking off a poor outlet pass, racing in and sliding across the paint to beat Marlene Boissonnault.

At the end of the first the Tigers held a 16-5 advantage in shots.
Cornell (8-2-5, 6-2-1) tried to get back in the game in the second and created an 8-0 shot advantage to start the period but the Big Red wouldn't be able to get anything past McQuigge.
Right after successfully killing off back-to-back penalties the Tigers expanded the lead with Fillier tipping in a drive from Sylvie Wallin from the left point at 9:26.

A relentless forecheck by the Tigers led to the fourth goal as Filier picked off the puck behind the net and slotted it for Connors. The duo teammed up for a great odd-man rush tally at 14:29.
