Tigers Fall to Colgate 4-3
January 05, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
Princeton took a 2-1 lead in the first period but Colgate stormed back to take a 4-3 game on Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
The Raiders got on the board in the first minute with a goal from Tyler Penner.
The Tigers power-play converted on their first opportunity of the game at 7:41 with Alex Riche burying a Ryan Kuffner pass to tie the game. Sophomore defenseman Mark Paolini notched his first goal of the season from Christian O'Neill and Luke Keenan 33 seconds later to take the lead.
John Snodgrass evened things up with the lone goal of the second period. Jeff Stewart picked the puck off behind the Princeton (5-10-2, 3-6-1) net and notched an unassisted tally at 6:40 of the third. A power-play goal by Bobby McMann pushed the Raiders ahead 4-2 at 11:59.
Senior Max Véronneau got the Tigers within one, less than a minute later, redirecting a drive by Matt Kellenberger.
Princeton put the extra attacker on with one minute remaining but we're not able to grab the equalizer.
Ryan Ferland stopped 29 shots for the Tigers, while Mitch Benson made 31 saves for Colgate (6-10-2, 3-3-2).
