Merkin Competes at U23 World Championships

Leonard Merkin, who was a three-year competitor for the Princeton wrestling team through last season, competed Saturday at the U23 World Championships in Budapest.
Merkin, who competed in the Greco Roman event, was a 157-pound (72 kg) wrestler with the Tigers. Merkin met Aleksa Erski of Serbia in the round of 16, with Erski winning 4-0.
"After a month of exploring the wrestling world training overseas accompanied by the Princeton Wrestling Club, I am excited to finally test myself against the best in the world and hope to bring back a gold for Team USA," Merkin said prior to the event.
