Andrew Griffin Voted A First-Team CoSIDA District II Academic All-America
November 14, 2019 | Football
Andrew Griffin had to wait until his senior year to become one of the Ivy League's top wide receivers.
Â
He was also one of its top student-athletes from Day 1.
That combination led him to be voted a CoSIDA All-District II first-team Academic All-America selection. Griffin, a computer science major who is second in the Ivy League in touchdown receptions this season, will now be on the national ballot, with the winners to be announced in December.
Â
In addition to his computer science major, Griffin will also graduate with certificates in technology and society and in political theory. He's also a Student-Athlete Wellness Leader, a student learning consultant at the McGraw Center for Learning and the president of Cannon Dial Elm eating club.
Â
The Avon, Ind., native was a backup wide receiver behind NFL players Jesper Horsted and Stephen Carlson and a special teams standout prior to this year. As a senior in his one year as a starter, he has caught 25 passes for 398 yards.
Â
His six TD receptions are second in the league, and his 15.9 yards per reception rank eighth. His four touchdowns against Bucknell tied the Ivy League single-game record.
