OT Goal Lifts Union Over Princeton, 2-1
November 16, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
Gabriel Seger's goal with 15.4 seconds left in overtime gave Union a 2-1 win over the Princeton men's hockey team Saturday night at Baker Rink.
"It's an unfortunate goal at the end there," Princeton coach Ron Fogarty said. "We worked hard for 64 minutes and it's unfortunate for that one to get in."
The weekend was the first at home for the Tigers this season, who will make the Central New York trip next weekend as ECAC Hockey League play continues.
Princeton scored first when Matthew Thom sent in a blast from just inside the blue line less than four minutes into the second period.
Union tied it up when Dylan Anhorn scored with six-plus minutes to go before the second ice cut, and it stayed 1-1 through the full 60 minutes.
"I think what we see at 5,000 feet is we've got to get some goal scoring," Fogarty said. "We had some great looks, a couple open back-door opportunities there in the third period and we've got to get guys heavy over the puck around the net."
Princeton was seconds away from taking two points out of the ECAC weekend with a pair of ties, but Seger sent in a rebound to deliver the Dutchmen the win.
