Fillier, Neunzert Capture ECAC Hockey Weekly Honors; Fillier Earns NCAA Second Star
November 18, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sophomore Sarah Fillier and freshman Solveig Neunzert have earned two of the ECAC Hockey League's weekly honors following No. 8/8 Princeton's road sweep of Union and RPI, with Fillier earning Player of the Week recognition and Neunzert earning Rookie of the Week.
Fillier was also named the NCAA Second Star of the Week.
Fillier led Princeton with three goals and seven points on the weekend, scoring the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1 Princeton in an eventual 7-2 win at Union, as well as adding three assists in that game. At RPI, Fillier had an assist and each of the last two goals in a 4-1 win.
Neunzert had the first goal to tie it up 1-1 at Union and had two assists later in the game, and she added an assist on the first goal at RPI.
Despite missing two games to compete with the Canadian National Team in a pair of exhibition games against the U.S. in early November, Fillier is a close second on the team in points, with 13 to stand one behind senior Carly Bullock, and Neunzert, a blue-liner, is the team's top-scoring freshman, putting up five points with four of those coming this weekend.Â
The Tigers will return home this weekend to face Clarkson, currently ranked fifth nationally in both polls, and St. Lawrence. Friday's 6 p.m. game against Clarkson will be a Black Out Baker event, with the first 500 fans receiving a free Black Out Baker t-shirt.
