Jesper Horsted Promoted To Bears' Active Roster

One week after Stephen Carlson's first NFL touchdown reception, another former Princeton wide receiver-turned-tight end will be making his debut on the biggest stage.

Jesper Horsted, a wide receiver alongside Carlson at Princeton before both graduated a year ago, has been activated from the practice squad of the Chicago Bears and will be on the active roster for the first time in this Sunday's home game against the New York Giants.

"I couldn't be happier for Jesper," said Princeton head coach Bob Surace. "I'm just so proud of him and Stephen. They both have worked so hard to get to where they are now. They're also great representatives of Princeton football and stand for all of the things that make the program so special."

Horsted is Princeton's career leader with 196 receptions and 28 touchdown receptions. He was a two-time first-team All-Ivy League selection and a Bushnell Cup finalist a year ago, along with Princeton quarterback John Lovett, who won the award. Lovett, like Carlson and Horsted, is also in the NFL, having spent the year on the Kansas City Chiefs' injured reserve list.

Horsted, who was also a first-team All-Ivy League baseball player, was injured in the beginning of training camp but came back to catch eight passes for 121 yards, including two for touchdowns, in the final two preseason games before landing on the practice squad.
