Princeton Collects Four All-Conference Players

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 19 Princeton Tigers has four Northeast Water Polo Conference All-Conference players, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced today.
Mitchell Cooper was selected to the first team while Antonio Knez, Yurian Quinones and Keller Maloney earned second team accolades.
Cooper was one of two players on the Tigers with at least 40 goals, registering 41 tallies this season. He secured 30 helpers, 13 drawn ejections and 12 steals, eight blocks and eight sprint wins. The sophomore's breakout game came as he snagged five goals vs. No. 14 in September. He corralled another five-goal performance also contributing two assists vs. No. 13 LMU two weeks later. Cooper ended the season with four consecutive multi-goal outings including six vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn.
Knez came onto the scene with 16 stops vs. No. 15 George Washington on Sept. 15. He followed that 13 saves against Wagner and 10 more denials against Navy (Sept. 21). The freshman broke out in conference action with 16 saves in a victory over Brown on Oct. 6. His signature moment of the year came against St. Francis-Brooklyn a week later, dropping in 20 saves. He led the squad with 10 victories, picking up a .607 save percentage.
Quinones paced the offense with 46 goals and 73 points in 2019. The freshman showed an all-around game with 19 steals, 19 drawn ejections and a team-best 33 sprint victories. He registered goals in 21 games and had nine hat tricks. His collegiate debut featured four tallies while he later snagged three goals and four sprint victories vs. No. 9 UC-San Diego less than a week later. Quinones had five points vs. No. 15 George Washington (Sept. 15). During conference play, the freshman had consecutive hat tricks along with five combined helpers vs. MIT (Oct. 6) and Iona (Oct. 12). Four days later, Quinones had five points, three steals and two drawn ejections at No. 16 Fordham. He completed the season with another hat trick vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn on Nov. 9.
Maloney was tied for second on the Tigers, corralling 39 goals, 32 assists, in points with 71. He nabbed 42 drawn ejections and 32 steals as well and was the only player on the team with at least 30 goals, 30 assists, 30 steals and 30 drawn ejections. He posted goals in 23 contest this year including 12 multi-goal outputs. He had a hat trick vs. Austin College to open 2019. Maloney drew six ejections vs. No. 9 UC-San Diego on Sept. 13. The sophomore followed with three helpers vs. Navy (Sept. 21) before six points vs. Air Force (Sept. 28). His top offensive performance was a five-goal, two-assist game at No. 16 Fordham (Oct. 16).
Head coach Dustin Litvak's team finished the regular season at 15-14 overall and 7-3 in the NWPC. The Tigers clinched the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and will take on the winner of Brown and Iona on Saturday.
