Horsted Catches First NFL TD Reception In Bears' Thanksgiving Day Win
November 28, 2019 | Football
The Princeton football family took some time away from its Thanksgiving Day fun to celebrate the first NFL touchdown of one of its own.
Jesper Horsted, Princeton's career leader in receptions and touchdown receptions, scored his first NFL TD when he hauled in an 18-yard catch from Mitchell Trubisky in the third quarter of the Chicago Bears' 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions Thursday afternoon. Horsted became the second Princeton wide receiver-turned-tight end from the Class of 2019 to catch a touchdown pass this month, after Stephen Carlson did so with the Cleveland Browns against Pittsburgh two weeks ago.
"I was yelling as the ball was in the air," said Princeton head coach Bob Surace. "I'm super excited for Jesper. He's worked really hard all year to be ready when he got his chance, and he's making the most of it."
Within minutes of Horsted's TD, Princeton football alums and coaches were tweeting and retweeting the catch and their reactions to it.

As for Horsted, his catch tied the score at 17-17, after the Bears had trailed 17-7 at halftime. The win moved the team to 6-6 and back into the playoff hunt. Horsted spent the season on the Bears' practice squad until last week. His first NFL reception was a four-yard catch against the Giants.Happy Thanksgiving!! And got to watch my boys @JHorsted and @david_blough10 go at it. Combined 3 TDs from the fellas!!
