Tigers Move Up Individual Rankings After Weekend's Tough Tests
December 11, 2019 | Wrestling
Following a weekend that saw a pair of matches against teams holding 57 of the all-time 90 NCAA team championships, Princeton's wrestlers saw gains in their Intermat national rankings.
Here's a look:

• At 125, Patrick Glory beat third-ranked Nick Piccininni of Oklahoma State and unranked Aaron Cashman of Iowa to move up one spot to third in the nation and as the top-ranked EIWA wrestler. Glory is now a perfect 7-0 on the season.

• At 149, Mike D'Angelo stayed at No. 14 following a weekend that saw him tangle with Oklahoma State's Boo Lewallen and Iowa's Pat Lugo, who stayed at No. 4 and No. 3, respectively. D'Angelo, the EIWA's top-ranked wrestler at 149, is 4-2 on the season, with both defeats coming over the weekend and both by decision. Lewallen won 7-4 before D'Angelo took Lugo to overtime before Lugo won 3-2.

• At 157, Quincy Monday jumped two spots and past his Sunday opponent, Iowa's Kaleb Young, now ranked seventh as the best in the EIWA with Young eighth. Monday, who beat Oklahoma State's Wyatt Sheets to open the weekend, is now 7-1 on the season with the possible chance to avenge his only defeat so far, at the Princeton Open against Rider's Jesse Dellavecchia, Dec. 19 in Dillon Gym.

• At 184, Travis Stefanik jumped into the Intermat rankings at No. 18 after a weekend sweep. Now 2-1, Stefanik beat Oklahoma State's Anthony Montalvo Friday before a 7-6 win over Iowa's 10th-ranked Nelson Brands, who dropped to 14th.

• At 197, Patrick Brucki was in a top-three battle against Iowa's then-third ranked Jacob Warner that came down to the final seconds before Warner won 5-4. Brucki had defeated Oklahoma State's then-sixth ranked Dakota Geer in Friday's match, and Geer rose to fifth while Brucki, now third as the EIWA's top wrestler and with a 3-1 record, and Warner, now second, switched places.
Princeton, which remained ranked 12th as a team by the NWCA for its highest-ever ranking by that organization, is away from competition until the Rider match Dec. 19 in Dillon Gym.
