Kuehl Scores Pair as No. 7 Princeton Splits Series With No. 5 Ohio State
December 15, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Freshman Annie Kuehl had both goals Sunday night as the seventh-ranked Princeton women's hockey team split the two-game series in Las Vegas with fifth-ranked Ohio State.
Ohio State's 5-2 win Sunday allowed the Buckeyes to pull even on the weekend following Princeton's 4-2 win Saturday at City National Arena, the practice facility for the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.
Kuehl's first goal answered Ohio State's Liz Schepers opening the scoring less than seven minutes into the game, with the Tiger rookie scoring one minute after Schepers' first goal. Schepers scored again in the final minute of the opening period to give the Buckeyes a 2-1 lead after one.
Teghan Inglis added a goal for Ohio State in the second, and it stayed 3-1 in favor of the Buckeyes into the final five minutes of the third. Gabby Rosenthal added a goal for Ohio State before Kuehl scored her second with just more than a minute to go. OSU's Tatum Skaggs made the 5-2 final with 16 seconds to go.
Kuehl scored her first career goal Nov. 16 against Rensselaer, and her two goals Sunday night gave the rookie her first two-goal game as a Tiger.
The Tigers will be away from competition for the holiday break before returning to Baker Rink for two against Saint Anselm Jan. 3 and 4.
