Quinones and Cooper Pick Up All-America Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Yurian Quinones and Mitchell Cooper were named Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Honorable Mention All-Americans, the organization announced today.
Quinones led the team with 49 goals and 38 sprint victories in his first year with Princeton. He added 28 assists, 20 steals, 19 drawn ejections and 10 blocks as well. Cooper paced the Tigers' offense in points (78) with 42 tallies and a team-best 36 helpers. He posted 13 drawn ejections and 12 steals and 10 blocks.
Quinones registered goals in 23 games and had nine hat tricks. His collegiate debut featured four tallies while he later snagged three goals and four sprint victories vs. No. 9 UC-San Diego less than a week later. During conference play, the freshman had consecutive hat tricks along with five combined helpers vs. MIT (Oct. 6) and Iona (Oct. 12). Four days later, Quinones had five points, three steals and two drawn ejections at No. 16 Fordham. He completed the regular season with another hat trick vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn on Nov. 9. In the postseason, the attacker was named to the NWPC All-Tournament second team after putting up three goals, an assist, three blocks and a steal as the Tigers reached the NWPC title meeting.
Cooper's breakout game came with five goals vs. No. 14 in September. He corralled another five-goal performance also contributing two assists vs. No. 13 LMU two weeks later. Cooper ended the regular season with four consecutive multi-goal outings including six vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn. In NWPC Tournament, the sophomore snagged six helpers in the team's two games.
Princeton went 16-15 overall and advanced to the NWPC Tournament Championship for the second straight year.
