Alarie Earns Back-to-Back Ivy Player of the Week Honors
February 11, 2019 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second straight week, Bella Alarie was selected as the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Â
It was another outstanding weekend for Alarie as she snagged a double-double in each contest. Against Yale, the 2018 Ivy Player of the Year dropped 38 points, 13 rebounds, six steals, four assists and three blocks as Princeton fell in overtime. During the game, she registered her 1,000th career point becoming just the 25th player in program history to reach that milestone.
Â
In a dominating victory over Brown, Alarie contributed 20 points, 16 rebounds (five offensive) along with five helpers and two blocks. She has five straight double-doubles and would lead the conference in scoring and rebounding if she qualified.
Â
It's 14th time that the two-time All-Ivy honoree has been picked for Player of the Week. Alarie was a six-time winner last season, while earning nine Ivy Rookie of the Week accolades and three more selections as a freshman. The Bethesda, Md., native is now tied for second all-time in conference history, trailing just Allison Feaster '98 of Harvard (21). She's tied with 2019 Princeton Ivy Legend Niveen Rasheed '13 (14).
Â
Princeton heads on the road this week to take on Harvard (Feb. 15, 7 p.m.) and Dartmouth (Feb. 16, 5 p.m.). Harvard currently sits third in the Ivy League at 4-2 right in front of Princeton at 3-2 and Dartmouth (3-3).
