Rain Suspends Play in Softball Team's Opener in Virginia

Rain intervened Friday in Lynchburg, Va., as the Princeton softball team opened its season at a Liberty-hosted tournament.
Princeton was due to play two games Friday but got only two and a half innings in against Wright State before play was halted for the day. Princeton will take a 3-0 third-inning lead into a resumption Saturday at 6:30 p.m. before facing Bucknell at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Princeton scored once in the first inning when, after an error and a Keeley Walsh base hit, Mackenzie Meyer picked up the RBI on a fielder's choice. The lead grew to 3-0 in the second with a Haley Hoffman leadoff homer in her first collegiate at-bat and Megan Donahey following an Alex Viscusi double with an RBI-single.
