Andonovski and Riche Score But Tigers Fall to the Bears 4-2
February 08, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
A two-goal third period lifted Brown to a 4-2 win over Princeton in men's hockey at Hobey Baker Rink this evening.
Freshman Corey Andonovski and senior Alex Riche scored for the Tigers, who held a 2-1 lead in the second period.
Brown converted on its first power play opportunity of the game, and went 1 for 4 on the night, with a goal from Justin Jallen at 1:55.
Andonovski knotted the game at 1-1 with an highlight reel goal from Liam Grande and Jackson Cressey. Andonovski put the puck between his legs as he skated across the slot and backhanded the puck past netminder Luke Kania.
A power-play goal by Riche gave Princeton the 2-1 lead at 7:32 of the second frame with Max Véronneau and Ryan Kuffner assisting.
Matt Gottlieb evened the game at 2-2 at 14:26 of the second when he released a rip from the high slot.
The Bears two goals in the third came off of turnovers, against the run of play. Colin Burston pushed his team ahead at 11:47 and Princeton got stuck trying to get Ryan Ferland off for the extra skater and Chris Berger capitalized to make it 4-2 at 18:46.
Princeton put the extra attacker on for the final 59 seconds but wasn't able to find the answer.
Ferland finished the game with 23 saves, Kania stopped 32 for Brown.
