Alarie Secures Another Ivy Player of the Week Award

PRINCETON – The remarkable season of Bella Alarie continued on Monday as she was picked as Ivy League Player of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced today. Penn's Eleah Parker also secured the honor with Alarie.

Alarie was outstanding at Brown, collecting 19 points, 14 rebounds, four steals, three blocks and three assists in just 21 minutes of play. In a victory over Yale, the 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year led all scorers with 31 points along with 13 rebounds. She also contributed six assists, two blocks and two steals. Her 11 free throws were a career high while her six helpers matched her personal-best. The Tigers, with their 80-68 win over the Bulldogs, clinched the Ivy League Regular Season Championship.

It's 17th time that the two-time All-Ivy honoree has been picked for Player of the Week as she has earned eight awards this year. Alarie was a six-time winner last season, while earning nine Ivy Rookie of the Week accolades and three more selections as a freshman. She's all-time program leader in POTW honors and is second in conference history, trailing just Allison Feaster '98 of Harvard (21).

In 20 games this season, Alarie is averaging 23.0 points on 51.0 percent shooting, 10.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, all career highs. She has 13 double-doubles this season including a current streak of five straight, giving her 33 in 80 career games. She is second in program history in double-doubles, two behind Niveen Rasheed '13. The Bethesda, Md., native is attempting to become the first player since Ellen DeVoe '86 (1984-85) to average a double-double for entire season.

No. 1 seeded Princeton will take on No. 4 seeded Cornell on Saturday (Mar. 16) in the Ivy League Tournament Semifinal. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. The winner of that contest will take on the winner of No. 2 Penn and No. 3 Harvard in the other semifinal on Sunday (Mar. 17) at 4 p.m.
