March 28, 2019 | Softball
Columbia, at 3-0 in the Ivy League, and Princeton, at 2-1, will meet this weekend for three games at the Class of 1895 Field. Game times are set for 3 p.m. Friday for a single game and 12:30 p.m. Saturday for two, and admission is free.
The games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available here.Â
Columbia, Princeton and Cornell (2-1) are the only teams above .500 in league play heading into the weekend. The Lions opened with a sweep of Dartmouth last weekend while the Tigers took two of three from Yale.
Senior Kaylee Grant leads the Tiger regulars at the plate, hitting .413 with Princeton hitting .253 as a team. Rookie Ali Blanchard (2-6, 5.35) and sophomore Allie Reynolds (3-6, 5.70) have combined to throw 83 1/3 of the team's 101 1/3 innings.
Columbia is hitting .283 as a team and has Max Ortega hitting .477 to lead the way. Sommer Grzybek is hitting .405 but has missed the last five games. In the circle, the Lions have a 4.27 ERA with Madison Canby (5-4, 3.41) and Alexa Pinarski (4-4, 4.65) throwing 102 1/3 of the team's 134 1/3 innings.
Columbia took two of three in the series last year in New York, but Princeton won three of four the last time the teams met in Princeton. Last year's series win was the first time since 2011 that Columbia won a series against Princeton, which was also the last time Columbia won a series over the Tigers in Princeton.
Following the series, Princeton will host Rider for two Wednesday at 3 p.m. before returning to Ivy play next weekend at Brown.
The games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available here.Â
