Alarie Named Ivy Player of the Week For Seventh Time This Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the seventh time this season, Bella Alarie was honored as the Ivy League Player of the Week, the conference announced today.

Alarie opened last week with a game-high 33 points on 13-of-21 shooting (61.9 percent) along with 10 rebounds, including eight offensive caroms in a win over Penn. She also had three blocks and three assists as Princeton moved into a tie for first place in the conference.

The junior was efficient in a win over Dartmouth on Friday, scoring 12 points on 6-of-7 from the floor, adding 10 rebounds and three blocks in just 26 minutes of action. The 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year also surpassed 700 career rebounds in the contest as Princeton earned a berth in the Ivy League Tournament. In a thrilling victory over Harvard, Alarie posted her third straight double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

It's 16th time that the two-time All-Ivy honoree has been picked for Player of the Week. Alarie was a six-time winner last season, while earning nine Ivy Rookie of the Week accolades and three more selections as a freshman. She's all-time program leader in POTW honors and is second in conference history, trailing just Allison Feaster '98 of Harvard (21).

In 18 games this season, Alarie is averaging 22.7 points on 50.8 percent shooting, 10.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, all career highs. She has 11 double-doubles in 18 games in 2018-19 and 31 in 78 career games. She is second in program history in double-doubles, four behind Niveen Rasheed '13. The Bethesda, Md., native is attempting to become the first player since Ellen DeVoe '86 (1984-85) to average a double-double for entire season. Already Princeton's all-time leader in career blocks (183), her 10.4 rebounds would be the sixth highest for a single-season, while she is eighth in rebounds (711) and 14th in points (1,185).

The Tigers wrap up the 2018-19 regular season at Brown (Mar. 8) and at Yale (Mar. 9) next weekend. Tip-off against Brown is set for 7 p.m.
