Tigers to Host Rider for Two Wednesday Afternoon
April 01, 2019 | Softball
Coming off back-to-back home Ivy weekends, the Princeton softball team will host Rider for a 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday in a break from Ivy League play.
The Broncs enter at 3-23 following a visit from the MAAC's Buffalo-area schools over the weekend that saw the Broncs take one of four as conference play opened. Princeton stands at 6-15 overall and 3-3 in Ivy play after taking one of three against Columbia last weekend.
Rider is hitting .207 as a team and counts Sam Ward (.333) as the team's top regular in batting average. Four arms have logged innings for the Broncs this season with Brooklyn Trujillo (2-8, 5.62) leading the team in innings pitched at 52 1/3.Â
Princeton enters the weekend hitting .262 as a team with senior Kaylee Grant (.415) as the top regular at the plate, driving in 11 runs to co-lead the team and with a team-best 22 hits. Sophomore Allie Reynolds (4-7, 5.22) leads the team in innings pitched at 59.
Princeton leads the all-time series against the Broncs 45-11 and has won 11 in a row in the series with Rider's last win over the Tigers coming in 2004. This will be the teams' first meeting since 2016 when Princeton won a 7-2 game at Rider, and it'll be the Broncs' first trip to Princeton since a Tiger twinbill sweep in 2007.
The Tigers will return to Ivy play this weekend with three games at Brown beginning Saturday.
