Tigers Open Final Ivy Weekend with Win at Brown
April 20, 2019 | Men's Tennis
With a doubles-point win and three more wins on the singles side, the Princeton men's tennis team pulled even in Ivy League play with a 4-2 win over Brown.
The Tigers can end with a winning Ivy record with a win in a 1 p.m. match Sunday at Yale.
"Brown is always tough and they fight in every spot," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "It's a tough adjustment for any visiting team at their indoor facility. I'm pleased we were able to show a great deal of toughness in getting the win. We have a quick turnaround traveling to Yale but we'll get ready for another tough match tomorrow."
The Tigers took the doubles point with wins on court two from Justin Barki and Damian Rodriguez and court three from Will Peters and Karl Poling. Rodriguez and Poling then got Princeton to the brink of victory with straight-set singles wins before Brown stayed alive with wins on courts two and four in the four-court indoor facility at Brown. That turned attention to the matches at fifth and sixth singles, where Payton Holden then had the straight-set winner at sixth.
