Ting Named Ivy Rookie of the Year, Three Named All-Ivy
April 23, 2019 | Men's Golf
Freshman Max Ting, sophomore Sam Clayman and junior Evan Quinn were named All-Ivy League and Ting was chosen by the league's coaches as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, the Ivy office announced Tuesday.
Ting is Princeton's second Ivy League Rookie of the Year in the 11 years the award has been given, joining 2013 honoree Quinn Prchal '17. The All-Ivy honors are the first for any of the three Tigers recognized, and Princeton was the only team to receive as many as three All-Ivy honorees this season.
Quinn was the Ivy League Championship runner-up, and Clayman tied for third and Ting tied for seventh at the event, which Princeton won by a stroke over Columbia Sunday in Egg Harbor, N.J. Princeton's title was its first since 2013, and the Tigers earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional, set for May 13-15. Princeton's regional site will be announced Wednesday, May 1 at 9 p.m. ET on the Golf Channel.
Clayman led Princeton in two events this season, at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational in the fall and George Mason's Mission Inn Spring Spectacular. Quinn led Princeton three times, all in the fall, at Dartmouth's Quechee Invitational, at Yale's MacDonald Cup, and when he won the Georgetown Hoya Invitational. Ting led Princeton at the Florida State Seminole Invitational this spring and tied for third overall at the Georgetown event.
