No. 15 Princeton Advances To Third Straight CWPA Championship Game With 11-5 Win Over No. 21 Bucknell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 15 Princeton Tigers advanced to their third straight Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship Game with an 11-5 win over the No. 21 Bucknell Bison at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
Bucknell scored the first goal of the contest, but Princeton rolled off four straight to finish the first quarter with a three-tally advantage. The Tigers pitched a shutout in the second stanza, adding on to their lead, 5-1, at the break.
The Bison registered the first goal of the second half, ending a scoreless streak that reach over 14 minutes of game action. Princeton countered with two tallies over the next 1:19 to go back ahead by five, 7-2. Bucknell snagged another goal with 16 seconds to go in the third frame, but did not score again until there was 41 seconds remaining in the game. By the time, Princeton had pushed its lead to seven and put the game out of reach.
Princeton will battle No. 6 Michigan in the CWPA Championship Game for the third straight season tomorrow (Apr. 27) at 12 p.m. The Wolverines have knocked off the Tigers in the postseason three straight years.
