Women's Tennis Team Stays Perfect in Ivy, Tops Harvard
April 07, 2019 | Women's Tennis
The 37th-ranked Tigers, now 14-4 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy, handed a defeat to one of the only other two teams still unbeaten in league play entering Sunday. Yale, also 3-0, is Princeton's last Ivy opponent, set for an April 21 match in Princeton.
Before then, though, the Tigers, whose 10-match Ivy League win streak is its longest since the team won 13 in a row from 2009-11, will head to Columbia next Friday before hosting Cornell next Sunday. Brown and Yale will come to campus the following weekend.
Princeton opened Sunday's match with a doubles-point win, taking both matches left on court after Harvard won on court one. Grace Joyce and Clare McKee won their match on court two and Nathalie Rodilosso and Stephanie Schrage won theirs on court three, both 6-3.
Harvard bounced right back with three straight singles wins, giving up no more than two games in any set in those matches on courts six, one and two, taking a 3-1 lead. Joyce closed out a straight-setter on court three and McKee rallied from dropping the second set to win her match on court four in three frames, tying the match. That left it to Nicole Kalhorn on court five, who went the distance with Rachel Eason before winning 7-4 in a third-set tiebreaker to keep Princeton unbeaten in the Ivy.
