NCAA Selection Show Reveals Seeds For Ivy Champions
May 21, 2019 | Women's Rowing - Open
NCAA Release
They already knew.
However, it was still good to hear.
One day after the Princeton women's open rowing team took home the Ivy League Championship … The Tigers heard their name announced as one of the 22 teams at the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships today.
"We are honored to be a part of the NCAA Championships," said head coach Lori Dauphiny. "The team has been working all year for this opportunity."
Princeton is one of three programs in NCAA history to compete at every NCAA Championship Regatta since the inaugural event in 1997.
The Tigers had a loaded schedule in 2019 that featured seven of the 22 NCAA squads. The Ivy League had four representatives in the field (Brown, Harvard and Yale).
Unlike the EAWRC competition or the IRA national championships, the NCAA Championship is awarded to the program with the best combined score for their varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four. The Varsity Eight squad is the No. 2 seed at the NCAA regatta while the 2V8 sits at No. 8 and the V4 at the No. 6 seed. Last year, the Tigers placed fifth overall, their best finish since 2013.
