2019 Princeton Men's Soccer Schedule
The defending Ivy League champion Princeton announces the slate they face as they look to repeat and reach the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season.
The Tigers will take on 10 non-conference opponents, including two that were in the NCAA Tournament last year in Duke and Rider in the first two games of the season.
Princeton opens the season at Duke, a team that was ranked as high as No. 2 in 2018. The Blue Devils finished the year in the third round, falling to the eventual national champion Maryland. The season opener in Durham on Friday, September 6 will be just the second meeting between the two teams and first since 1992.
The first home game of the season will see Rider at Myslik Field on Wednesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. It will be one of eight home games for the Tigers, which also includes Drexel on Tuesday, September 24, Delaware on Tuesday, October 8, Lehigh on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 19, first-time opponent Virginia Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Yale on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Princeton returns the 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year Kevin O'Toole, who had 11 points a year ago. Though the team did lose two of its top three scorers, the squad does have eight of the top 10 back in the lineup. First-team All-Ivy League defender Richard Wolf and nearly the entire defensive corps is back, including rising seniors Benjamin Issroff, Bobby Hickson and Cole Morokhovich – who were all honorable mention All-Ivy last year. Goalkeeper Jacob Schachner is back for his senior season. The All-Ivy selection had six shutouts in 2018 and led the league in goals against average with a 0.71.
