2019 Schedule
PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2018 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champions are set to defend their title with the release of their 2019 schedule, head coach Dustin Litvak announced.
"We are looking forward to an exciting 2019 season that will challenge us from the very beginning as we face UCLA and Stanford in the first weekend of play," said Litvak. "We will continue to be tested throughout our first month culminating in the MPSF Invite in Southern California, which will prepare us for the extremely competitive Northeast Water Polo Conference games, beginning in October. Every opponent this season will test us in a variety of ways as we work to improve each day and peak at the right time."
Princeton open the 2019 season at the Navy Invitational (Sept. 7-8). The Tigers begin vs. La Salle and UCLA before contests vs. Austin College and Stanford. Stanford was the 2018 national runner up while UCLA reached the national semifinals.
The Tigers host the annual Princeton Invitational (Sept. 13-15) with games vs. UC-San Diego, Johns Hopkins, Bucknell and George Washington. The week after, Wagner (Sept. 21) and Navy (Sept. 21) come to DeNunzio Pool. It will be the first time that former head coach Luis Nicolao returns to Princeton since leaving in 2018.
Litvak's team goes to the MPSF Invite (Sept. 27-29) in Los Angeles before going home to start the month of October. The opponents for the invite haven't been announced. NWPC action gets started at DeNunzio with Harvard (Oct. 5), Brown (Oct. 6) and MIT (Oct. 6). The next weekend, the Tigers head to Iona (Oct. 12) and St. Francis-Brooklyn (Oct. 12). Princeton travels to New York for a game vs. Fordham (Oct. 19).
The squad heads back to California for the Santa Clara Invite (Oct. 26-27). The Tigers battle San Jose St. (Oct. 26), LMU (Oct. 26), Ottawa (Oct. 27) and the host Santa Clara (Oct. 27). NWPC road action finalizes at Brown (Nov. 2), MIT (Nov. 3) and Harvard (Nov. 3). The regular season comes to a conclusion with two at home vs. Iona (Nov. 9) and St. Francis-Brooklyn (Nov. 9).
NWPC Championships are Nov. 22-24 in Cambridge, Mass., at MIT.
