Princeton Ranked 24th In STATS FCS Preseason Top 25

Princeton will begin Year No. 150 where so many Tiger teams have been before - in the national rankings.

Coming off a perfect 10-0 season and a third Ivy League title in six years, Princeton is ranked 24th in the STATS FCS preseason Top 25 poll that was released Monday afternoon. Princeton finished the 2018 season ranked ninth in the final FCS poll for the best finish by an Ivy League team since 1986.

The Tigers are the only ranked team in the Ivy League in the 2019 preseason poll, though Dartmouth and Yale were also receiving votes.

Princeton opens the 2019 season at home against Butler on Sept. 21. This season is the 150th anniversary season for the sport of football, dating back to Princeton's game against Rutgers on Nov. 6, 1869. Princeton football 2019 preseason fact sheet:

* Princeton enters the 2019 season having gone 10-0 a year ago, giving the program its first perfect season in 54 years.

* Princeton won the Ivy League championship in 2018; it was the third Ivy League championship for Princeton in the last six years.

* The 2019 season marks the 150^th anniversary of college football, and Princeton was part of the first game, back on Nov. 6, 1869, at Rutgers. The teams played again the following week in Princeton.

* Princeton will be celebrating the 150^th anniversary of college football all season, including a game at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 9 against Dartmouth.

* Princeton had the Ivy League's highest-scoring offense ever last year, averaging 47.0 points per game.

* Princeton returns four starters on offense and eight starters on defense.

* Among Princeton's graduation losses are quarterback John Lovett (two-time Bushnell Cup Offensive Player of the Year winner) and wide receivers Jesper Horsted (Princeton record-holder for career receptions and touchdowns receiving) and Stephen Carlson (third all-time at Princeton in touchdown receptions). All three signed NFL free agent contracts.

* Bob Surace enters his 10^th season as the Charles W. Caldwell Jr. Head Coach of Football at Princeton with a record of 48-42 and three Ivy League titles. Surace was 2-20 in his first 22 games, meaning he is 46-22 since.

* Princeton had 18 All-Ivy League selections in 2018. Returnees include tight end Graham Adomitis (first-team), cornerback Delan Stallworth (second-team), linebacker Jeremiah Tyler (second-team), defensive lineman Joey DeMarco (honorable metion), center Alex Deters (honorable mention) and running back Collin Eaddy (honorable mention).

* Princeton has three captains for the 2019 season: tight end Graham Adomitis, linebacker John Orr and defensive lineman Jake Strain.
