PRINCETON, N.J. – Hannah Davey's hat trick paced the No. 5 Princeton Tigers in a 4-3 victory over the No. 20 Albany Great Danes at Bedford Field on Friday evening.

It's the fifth time under head coach Carla Tagliente that Princeton has recorded a hat trick and the first in Davey's career.

Princeton pushed the offensive pace in the early going, earning four corners in the first five minutes, but couldn't get one through. Finally, on the fifth try, Davey's big blast hit an Albany defender and trickled in. Albany tried for the equalizer right before the end of the quarter, but Grace Baylis stood tall and denied the shot.

Three minutes into the second stanza, Davey ripped another into the cage to put Princeton up two.

Albany got on the board off a corner halfway through the frame. Kelsey McCrudden inserted to Dana Bozek, who dribbled left and whipped the ball in.

Zoe Shephard showed incredible hand-eye coordination to put Princeton back ahead by two. Clara Roth dribbled along the far base line and hit a high ball over the goalie. Shepard hit it with her stick for the Tigers' third goal.

Albany opened up the second half with three corners, but Baylis stopped one shot with her blocker and kept the Great Danes off the board. Katie MacCallum snagged the second tally for the road squad, hitting in a long pass from Bozek.

Davey's third goal came off … you guessed … another corner with about seven minutes left in the game.

Albany responded 96 seconds later, when Bozen took an insert, dribbled right and whacked in her second of the matchup. Princeton's defense would not allow a shot after that, however, securing its second straight victory.

Davey is off to a fantastic start this season, pacing the Tigers with four goals, two assists and 10 points. Julianna Tornetta and Roth added three helpers while Baylis denied six shots in the win.

Princeton welcomes to No. 17 Penn State on Sunday (12 p.m.). The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be seen in the Philadelphia area on NBC Sports Philadelphia +.
