Adomitis, Orr, Strain Will Be Princeton's 2019 Captains
September 13, 2019 | Football
The opening kickoff of the Princeton football season is about a week away. The opening coin toss will get here a few minutes before that. Princeton will be led there, and all season, by its three 2019 captains.
Seniors Graham Adomitis, John Orr and Jake Strain are the tri-captains for the 2019 Tigers, who open their season Saturday, Sept. 21, at home against Butler.
"Our program has been fortunate to have great leadership through the years, and the three young men who will be our 2019 captains continue that tradition," Princeton's Charles W. Caldwell Jr. Head Coach of Football Bob Surace said. "All three bring great presence to the field and to the locker room, and they have the respect of everyone on the team."
Adomitis was a first-team All-Ivy League selection at tight end a year ago on Princeton's unbeaten Ivy League championship team. The 6-4, 255-pound Pittsburgh native is an equal threat as a receiver and blocker.
Orr, a 6-2, 225-pound linebacker from Nashville, enters his senior year with 62 tackles. He was third on the team in tackles in 2017 and then was a key member of the fourth-ranked defense in the FCS last year. So, too, was Strain, a 6-2, 260-pound defensive lineman from Springfield, Pa., who came back from an injury in 2017 to make 22 tackles last year.
Princeton is celebrating the 150th anniversary of college football and its role in the sport's history after having played in the first game, against Rutgers, on Nov. 6, 1869.
