Loyola Takes 2-0 Decision Over Princeton
September 14, 2019 | Men's Soccer
The favorite to win the Patriot League, Loyola scored off of two set pieces to earn a 2-0 win over Princeton in its home opener on Saturday at Ridley Field.
Both goals came in the second half, as Loyola had a slight 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
A defensive miscue put the Greyhounds on the board in the 63rd minute. Davey Mason took a restart from the left side, sending the ball into the box where a Tiger tried to clear the ball away but instead sent it to Barry Sharifi who fired in the goal.
The goal came just minutes after two phenomenal stops by senior Jacob Schachner. The first came in the 54th minute when Brian Saramago headed in a restart but Schachner was in perfect position to collect the attempt. A minute later Schahcner made a right toe save on a run by Saramago down the right flank.

Princeton, now 1-2 on the season, looks to rebound on Wednesday when it travels to Monmouth. Game time is at 7 p.m.
