Princeton senior Evan Quinn opened the spring season with a big win Sunday morning in Florida, knocking off the nation's No. 2-ranked player by Golfstat, Adrien Pendaries of Duke, 3 and 1 in a dual match.
Quinn, a 2019 first-team All-Ivy League honoree as he helped Princeton to the Ivy League title, delivered one of two wins in the morning's series of match-play contests at The Club at Emerald Hills in Hollywood, Fla., with sophomore Max Ting defeating the nation's 104th-ranked player, Steven DiLisio, 1-up.
Duke won the morning round of match play 6-2 and the afternoon round 4.5-3.5.
Ting returned in the afternoon to defeat Evan Katz, the nation's 15th-ranked player, 1-up, and Jake Mayer beat 104th-ranked DiLisio, 3&2.
Princeton will return to Florida for its next competition, George Mason's Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, March 14-15 outside Orlando.
