No. 5 Women's Tennis Earns Second-Place Finish at Blue Gray Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 5 Princeton University women's tennis team earned a second-place finish at the Blue Gray Classic Saturday, first defeating Yale University 4-1 to advance to the championship match where it fell to No. 19 Wake Forest University, 4-1.
Princeton vs. Yale
The Tigers began their match against the Bulldogs last night and won the doubles point; No. 23 Grace Joyce and Daria Frayman earned a spectacular 7-6 victory over No. 3 Samantha Martinelli and Jessie Gong at No. 1. Brianna Shvets and Nathalie Rodilosso also earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Chelsea Kung and Rena Lin. Zoe Howard and Clare McKee also overcame Caroline Dunleavy and Rhea Shrivastava, 7-6 (1).
In singles, No. 17 Shvets defeated No. 46 Martinelli at the No. 1 position 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 and No. 57 Howard overcame Dunleavy 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3. McKee clinched the match at No. 5, outlasting Gong 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
Princeton vs. Wake Forest
No. 57 Howard earned her second win of the day, defeating No. 79 Eliza Omirou 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 2 position.
