PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers are up to No. 23 in the Associated Press Top-25 poll, the organization announced today.
The Tigers opened up its five-game home stand with two impressive victories over the Harvard Crimson, 66-45, and Dartmouth Big Green, 87-55, last weekend.
Princeton ran off seven straight to begin the second quarter, setting the score at 24-7 at the 6:37 mark. The Crimson got within eight, but Princeton went into the break with a 33-21 advantage. The home squad did not let Harvard within single digits the rest of the contest. The Crimson finished 17-of-64 from the floor (26.6 percent). Harvard's 26.6 percent shooting was its worst percentage of the year while its 17 baskets were tied for second lowest.
Dartmouth's Paula Lenart's jumper 34 seconds into the third frame cut Princeton's lead to two, 36-34. The Big Green would score just one more basket over the next eight minutes. The Tigers shot a ridiculous 73.3 percent in the third stanza and hit four of its five three-point attempts, stretching its lead to 22, 65-43, following three quarters. Dartmouth never made it a game after that.
Princeton at 21-1 overall and on a 17-game winning streak welcomes Penn to Jadwin tomorrow at 7 p.m.
