Men's Hockey Edged By Yale, 2-1
February 28, 2020 | Men's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON – A quick two-goal spurt from Yale was enough to stymie Princeton in the penultimate game of the regular season as the Tigers fell, 2-1.
Yale scored twice late in the second period, needing 0:54 to erase a 1-0 Princeton lead.
Princeton had the edge in shots, 30-28, including five each from Spencer Kersten and Jackson Cressey.
Princeton was 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
Finn Evans got the Tigers on the board first, scoring 7:12 into the first period. Mark Paolini picked off a Yale entry pass and flowed the other way in transition. His original offering was saved, but a persistent forecheck from Paolini knocked the puck loose to Jeremy Germain who dished to an open Evans in the slot for a quick one-timer and a 1-0 Princeton lead.
Yale tallied twice in a span of 0:54 to take a 2-1 lead after two periods. Justin Pearson struck first for the Bulldogs, quickly firing home the equalizer after a Curtis Hall faceoff win.
Under a minute later, Hall moved past a defender for a breakaway goal with 2:44 left in the middle frame.
The Tigers close the regular season on Saturday night, hosting Brown at Hobey Baker Rink. Opening faceoff with the Bears is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available here.
