Poling of Men’s Tennis Honored as ITA Regional Player to Watch

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its postseason awards Monday morning and sophomore Karl Poling of the Princeton University men's tennis team was honored as the Northeast Region Player to Watch.
Ranked No. 113 in singles by the ITA in March, Poling tied the team-high in singles wins with a 19-6 record, playing primarily at the No. 1 position.
He began the year with a 9-4 record in the fall then continued his strong play in the spring, going 10-2. On February 22, 2020, he overcame No. 55 Tim Sandkaulen of the University of Mississippi 6-2, 6-3 and picked up another ranked win over No. 97 Charlie Broom of Dartmouth University 6-4, 5-7, 3-6.
Poling was also effective in doubles, going 17-6 with a 6-2 record in the fall and an 11-4 record in the spring.
