Across the Decades and Miles: Squash Alumnae, Current Tigers Reconnect
June 15, 2020 | Women's Squash
Current Tigers and those from throughout the decades of the Princeton women's squash program reconnected as so many groups are connecting during the COVID-19 pandemic, via a Zoom call from locations across the country and the globe.
The now ubiquitous medium gave 11 members of the 2019-20 team and 17 alumnae the chance to learn from each other's experiences and further the program's mentoring efforts. The group brought together alumnae from a wide range of professions, including media, marketing, law, medicine, education, the arts, business, finance and sports, to talk with members of the latest Tiger edition, from those who are majoring in economics and students in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs to those majoring in anthropology and civil and environmental engineering, and those who have yet to formally declare a major.
"It was incredibly valuable to hear career advice from Princeton Squash alums," Mia Rosini, a Wilson School student, said. "Not only was it helpful to hear about their career paths, but it was also comforting to feel the camaraderie of the Princeton Squash community, and know that I will always have their continuing support."
As valuable as the conversation and connections were to those Tigers who will soon be making their own way in the world, it was fulfilling for alums who are already established as well.
"I absolutely loved being a part of last week's women's squash Zoom," Meredeth Quick '01, an English teacher and squash coach in at Poly Prep in Brooklyn, said. "It was so special to see old teammates, meet new alumnae and hear from the current players and recent graduates, who all seem to be incredibly talented and smart young women who are already making an impact in our world. I look forward to staying connected with this group and hope to be able to give back to the current players and program, just like the many alums who helped to make my experience at Princeton and as a young alum so special."
Along with success off the court, the 2019-20 Tigers had a memorable season on it, finishing second in the nation at the CSA team championships in February.
