October 01, 2021 | Men's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. - After a fantastic start to non-conference play, the No. 9 Princeton Tigers begin Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) action this weekend at DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton welcomes No. 15 Harvard (10 a.m.) and Brown (5 p.m.) on Saturday and MIT on Sunday (11 a.m.). The Tigers and Crimson have met in the last three NWPC Championship games dating back to 2017 with the Tigers earning the 2018 title.
The Tigers currently sit at 12-2 overall with half of their victories coming over ranked opponents. Perhaps, the signature moment of the season to date was Princeton's California Sweep over No. 17 Loyola Marymount, No. 10 Pepperdine and No. 13 UC Irvine. Last weekend, the Tigers took down No. 20 Navy and Wagner.
Head coach Dustin Litvak's squad has been paced offensively by Roko Pozaric. The freshman from Croatia has produced 38 goals and 24 assists along with 20 steals and 15 drawn ejections. He has lost one sprint attempt in 48 tries. Pozaric has earned at least one conference weekly honor every week the Tigers have played. Keller Maloney is the two-time NWPC Player of the Week as he has contributed 29 tallies, 16 helpers and 19 drawn ejections. Princeton has five more players with at least 10 goals and three more with at least eight.
In goal, Antonio Knez and Billy Motherway have provided a nice 1-2 combo. Knez is 8-2 this season with a. 532 save percentage while also posting nine assists, nine steals and a goal. Motherway is unbeaten in his starts with a .543 save percentage.
