TIGERS COMPLETE WEEKEND SWEEP TO OPEN ECAC PLAY
The first weekend of ECAC -- and Ivy League -- play saw the Tigers put together a pair of offensive explosions en route to a sweep of Brown and Yale. The two wins to open an ECAC slate are the first time Princeton has gone 2-0-0 to being conference play since 2012-13 when the Tigers defeated No. 4 Cornell (5-3) and Colgate (4-0) at Hobey Baker Rink.
PRINCETON ORDERS UP A DOZEN GOALS
The Tigers finished the weekend with 12 goals after scoring six in each game of the trip. The dozen goals scored are the most in an ECAC regular season weekend since the Tigers also netted 12 goals in a pair of wins over Colgate (6-5) and Cornell (6-3) on On Dec. 2-3, 1995. Princeton did have 15 goals in two wins at Brown (8-2, 7-1) to open the ECAC Playoffs in 2018 en route to an ECAC Championship.
SIX DIFFERENT SCORERS SEND TIGERS TO ECAC-OPENING WIN AT BROWN
16 of the 20 skaters who appeared in at least one game last weekend had at least one point, with eight players recording at least two points in the two wins. Ian Murphy (2g, 2a) and Pito Walton (1g, 4a) led the offense.
THE FIRST-TIMERS CLUB
Princeton received its first four goals at Brown from players scoring their first career goals, following up Noah de la Durantaye who netted his first career goal in the season opener at Army. Six different players -- de la Durantaye, Mike Kennedy, David Ma, Mackenzie Merriman, Ian Murphy and Nick Seitz have scored their first career goal already this season.
SPECIAL (TEAMS) DELIVERY
After starting the season 0-for-10 on the power play, Princeton was 2-for-2 last Saturday at Yale following PPGs from Finn Evans and Mark Paolini. The Tigers are 13-for-16 killing penalties, including two short-handed goals from Ian Murphy and Nick Seitz.
PAOLINI PAYING OFF
Defenseman Mark Paolini went 11 games without a point from 11/2/19-1/3/20, but now has 13 points in his last 18 games -- including the OTGWG to advance the Tigers by Dartmouth in the ECAC Playoffs.
AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
