Men's Ice Hockey Wins Third In A Row With 2-1 Victory At LIU
November 12, 2021 | Men's Ice Hockey
The first-ever meeting between Princeton and LIU went down to the wire, and the Tigers snuck off Long Island with a 2-1 win thanks to a Matt Kellenberger bomb with 1:53 remaining in regulation.
Kellenberger stepped into a slapshot following a quick pass from Adam Robbins and ripped the winner inside the left post to secure Princeton's third consecutive win.
Robbins would finish with two points in the game. The New York native scored his first career goal just over the midpoint of the second period, finishing a 2-on-1 with fellow New Yorker Nick Seitz to give Princeton a lead.
LIU found an equalizer halfway through the third period via a Jake Stevens goal at the 10:41 mark. That was the only time the Sharks broke through on Aidan Porter who finished with 28 saves -- including 22 over the final two periods -- to record his second win of the season.
Pito Walton had an assist on Robbins' goal, giving him six points over his last three games, including at least one point in each of those contests. Adam Robbins now has five points in four games, recording at least one point in all four games this season.
The Tigers and Sharks mneet again on Saturday for Princeton's home opener at Hobey Baker Rink. Faceoff on "Salute For Service" Night is set for 6 p.m.
