USA VOLLEYBALL RELEASE
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Selected by its National Team Development Program (NTDP), USA Volleyball recently announced its athletes and coaches who will attend a training camp for its boy's and men's age group national teams and six members of the Princeton University men's volleyball team were selected.
James Hartley, Gavin Leising and Henry Wedbush were named to the U-21 roster while Pat Shawaryn was named as an assistant coach. Incoming first year student-athletes Nyherowo Omene and Aiden Benson were named to the U-19 roster.
"We are so proud of so many Tigers being selected to participate in the USA National Team pipeline programs this summer," said Head Coach Sam Shweisky. "Being selected to participate in the USA Volleyball pipeline is a tremendous honor that our players and coaches strive for and are grateful to be a part of. The talent level of the groups selected this summer is incredibly high and we know our players will have a great experience training and competing for the USA."
The camp, comprising some of the best of the next generation of men's players, will be in preparation for the Olympics in 2024, 2028 and beyond. It will take place in at the National Team Training Center in Anaheim, California, from July 27-August 5. The training sessions will coincide with the Tokyo Olympics and players will be encouraged to watch.
For many Tigers this will not be their first USA Volleyball experience. Shawaryn has worked with the USA Select & Youth Teams at the USA High Performance Championships since 2013, while Hartley, Wedbush and Leising were named to Men's Junior National Training Team in May 2020.
